Privacy Policy

Who we are

StreetCheat is operated by Hantis USA, LLC ("we", "us"). This policy covers the StreetCheat app for Android and iPhone and the alert emails and notifications it sends.

What we collect

Your account

• Email address, and a password if you sign up with email. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash by our sign-in provider; we never see them.
• If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the email address (and, with Apple, the name) that the service shares with us. With Apple you can choose to hide your email; we then only see a private relay address.

Your routes

• The name, starting address and destination address you enter for each route, the days you drive, your usual departure time, and for rotating shifts, your on/off pattern.
• The driving path between those addresses, which we look up so we can check it for closures and draw it on the map.
• The email addresses you list to receive a route's alerts (up to five; see People you add).

Notifications and settings

• A push token for your phone, so we can send it notifications, and whether the phone is Android or iPhone. It is removed when you sign out.
• Your notification settings: when the daily summary arrives, quiet hours, morning reminders and similar choices.
• A history of the notifications we sent you, so the app can show them again.

Feedback you give

• Closures you report as wrong or over, your thumbs up or down on a closure, and whether you found a notification helpful.

What we don't collect

• We do not use your phone's location. StreetCheat only knows the addresses you type.
• We don't access your contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
• The app contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools.
• We never sell your information or share it for advertising.

How we use it

• To find the driving path for each route and check it, about once an hour, against closure information published by state transportation departments and city governments.
• To send you, and the people you added, the alerts you asked for: notifications, a daily summary email, and a weekly look ahead.
• To show you your routes, closures and past notifications in the app.
• To judge how reliable a closure is. Reports and votes from everyone who drives past it are combined into a confidence level that all users see. Other users never see who voted or reported.
• To keep the service working, answer your messages, and prevent abuse (for example, limits on the number of routes and email recipients).

When we check public closure sources, we ask them only about the map area around the routes we check. We never send them your addresses, your name or your email.

Who helps us run StreetCheat

These companies process information for us, only to provide the service and under their own privacy and security commitments. None of them may use it for their own purposes, such as advertising.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others. If StreetCheat is sold or merged, your information would move with it under this policy.

People you add to a route

You can list up to five email addresses to receive a route's alert emails, for example a family member who makes the same drive. Please add only people who want these emails. We use those addresses only to send that route's alerts. Anyone who no longer wants them can ask us to stop at support@streetcheat.com, and the route's owner can remove them in the app at any time.

How long we keep it

• Your account, routes, settings, reports and votes are kept for as long as you have an account.
• Closure alerts for a route are replaced every time we check it, so only current ones are kept.
• Deleting a route deletes its alerts and reminders.
• When you delete your account, everything tied to it is deleted from our systems within 30 days.

Your choices

• You can edit or delete any route, and turn notifications or emails off, in the app.
• You can ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, at support@streetcheat.com. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law; we'll honor them.

Security

Information travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections. Each person's data is walled off in our database so only they can read it, and only our checking service can read across accounts to do its job. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to collect only what StreetCheat needs.

Children

StreetCheat is meant for drivers and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Where your data is processed

StreetCheat is run from the United States, and your information is processed in the United States and wherever our providers operate.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
